2018, I'm ready for you!
Hello friends,
It's December 1st! I can't believe the end of the year is coming already.
First and foremost, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Lynna Nguyen and I am a lifestyle portrait photographer in San Jose, California. I am so happy that you've decided to stop by to see my website and blog.
In my "About Lynna" section of the website, I wrote a short story of how my love for photography started. I always wanted to learn about photography and how to develop them. Luckily my high school offered a black and white film photography course and I was certain that's the elective for me. I can still remember walking into my first day of class feeling excited and nervous of what I'm about to learn. I looked forward to this class every day and even stayed back during break time to continue working on my art.
As I learned about the process of developing film and how to use light in the perfect way to make a photograph, I fell in love with this type of art. I was never a good painter or sketcher, but this was something I was good at.
This is my way of art. To me, it was more than just art. It was my way of expressing myself and it truly made me happy and at peace when I was working in the dark room.
After high school, it was time for me to decide what I wanted to do as a career. I dreamt of being a worldwide famous photographer. I continued to take photographs of everything and anything, trying to learn everything about portrait photography. I even attended photography workshops and classes. I was honored to be able to assist an amazing wedding photographer, Caroline Tran (She's an LA based photographer). Of course, life happened and my dream seemed farther and farther away. I changed my course in college and tried getting in the Radiology program at Foothill College.
During that time, I was still determined to start my own photography business. I started in 2011 when I was booked for my first wedding in Sacramento. For the past 6 years, through my network of friends and family, I have been able to continue doing what I truly love to do. While running my business, I worked full-time as a restaurant manager at Steins Beer Garden for the past 4 years. It was an amazing experience and I enjoyed my time there.
Fast forward to around this time last year, I decided to quit my full-time job to travel. I started my South America trip back in August and will be returning home in two weeks. In the months I've spent here in South America, I had a lot of time to reflect on life and decide that it's time for me to start working towards my dream again. I am excited to show you all what's in store for 2018!
